Donations are being requested in aid of the Bhopal Medical Appeal, which supports survivors of the disaster when toxic gas leaked from the Union Carbide plant in 1984. The plant began leaking one evening and 27 tons of a deadly gas spread throughout the city. Half a million people were exposed to the gas and 25,000 have died to date as a result of their exposure. More than 120,000 people still suffer from ailments such as blindness, extreme difficulty in breathing and gynaecological disorders.

Refreshments will include Fairtrade ingredients and there will be Fairtrade products from India on sale during the evening.
