Two gutted caravans have been loaded up with rubbish and dumped by a busy road near Market Harborough.

The battered old vehicles have been abandoned by the side of the A6 between Market Harborough and Desborough.

They have been rammed full of junk, including old bed mattresses, building waste, household rubbish, wood, cardboard, empty beer cans and furniture.

Staff at North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) are now launching an investigation into the incident.

They are striving to track down the owners as well as removing the two run-down caravans.

“An NNC waste team is aware of the abandoned vehicles and is launching an investigation into ownership as well as arranging removal of the vehicles and their contents,” said a council spokeswoman.
