Flytippers dump their rubbish in pretty Harborough district village

Flytippers have dumped an ugly pile of rubbish in a pretty Harborough village.

The gang tipped the household waste in Back Lane, East Langton, north of Market Harborough.

The offenders are thought to have struck at the weekend after Harborough District Council was tipped off by Twitter on Monday March 2.

The tip included at least two filthy mattresses, drawers, cardboard, a chair and black bags of garbage.

The mound of domestic trash was piled up alongside a hedge flanked by trees looking out over glorious countryside.

A council spokesman said: “This is totally unacceptable and inexcusable.

“The flytippers have dumped this household rubbish in a beautiful part of our district.

“This sort of flagrant eco-crime really is a blot on our fantastic local landscape in Harborough.”

He said the dump was being removed by council work teams on Tuesday March 3.

“We are hunting for clues and are carrying out an urgent investigation to try to track down the culprits.

“We take flytipping very seriously in Harborough,” he said.

“Our flytipping tip-off campaign is proving very successful and we are finding and fining more offenders all the time.”
