Driver dies after collision near Lutterworth

A driver has died after a collision near Lutterworth today (Thursday).

The collision happened in Ullesthorpe Road, Lutterworth, at about 10am, involving a Volkswagen white caddy van and a refrigerated light goods vehicle.

East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s, died at the scene of the collision.

A road closure was in place following the collision. It was reopened just after 2pm.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the collision and officers are appealing to anyone with any information to make contact.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident to make contact with us, if you have not already done so.

"Anyone with any dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident should also check this and get in touch.
