Drink drive arrests in Leicestershire down on last year so far

Launched at the beginning of December, the campaign aims to warn motorists about the dangers of driving while impaired through drink or drugs. Twenty five people have been arrested so far, five less than last year. Three of the 25 arrests were drug arrests.

Chief Inspector Phil Vickers, who is heading up the regional Drink Drug Drive campaign across the East Midlands Police forces said, “We are reaching the half way point of our month long campaign and already 25 drivers have risked both their lives, and those of innocent people, by getting behind the wheel while unfit through drink or drugs. It is just not worth the risk, if you choose to drink and drive our round the clock patrols will catch you.”
