Youths who pelted two students with eggs in Market Harborough town centre over the coronavirus are feared to have struck again.

An urgent police investigation has been launched after offenders hurled eggs at a shocked 20-year-old man in St Mary’s Place, Harborough, on Friday February 21.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “The person making the report told police that eggs had been thrown at two other locations, but no other reports have been received.”

The spokesman said police are now appealing for information and seeking any eye-witnesses.

And he said they are feared to be the youths who targeted a Chinese boy and a Vietnamese teenager, aged 16 and 17, in The Square on Monday February 3.

The stunned Brooke House College students were attacked at about 6.30pm in a racially-motivated assault.

“Enquiries are continuing to identify the suspects and it is believed they may have been responsible for a similar incident in The Square earlier this month,” said the police spokesman.
