She was repeatedly tailgated and flashed by her furious assailant in the 10-minute “onslaught”.

He then forced her to stop before jumping out and menacing her on foot on the busy Lutterworth-Market Harborough road.

Luckily the distraught victim was able to execute a quickfire three-point turn in her white Audi TT sports car and speed off back towards Lutterworth.

The devastated 25-year-old woman is now urging anyone who saw the incident or who has any dashcam footage to contact police urgently.

The woman, who’s too scared to be named, told the Harborough Mail: “I’ve never been so frightened in my life.

“It was terrifying from start to finish.

“This man is a deadly threat on our local roads - and he needs to be caught now.”

She was driving home from her job as a teacher in the Lutterworth area when her ordeal began at about 5.30pm on Wednesday February 12.

“I followed a white/silvery pick-up into Husbands Bosworth.

“We’d just gone past the Bell Inn when the van suddenly pulled over on to the pavement.

“I overtook it.

“A black car behind me also pulled out to overtake it.

“But as they did so the pick-up driver violently jerked out in front of them – forcing them to slam on their brakes,” said the woman, who lives with her parents in Market Harborough.

“He then roared right up behind me in the pitch-black darkness.

“He kept charging up to my rear bumper so I feared he’d smash into me or pull out and sideswipe me into a ditch.

“He also kept flashing me with his main beam, blinding me and almost forcing me off the road.

“I put my foot down to try to speed away from this maniac but he accelerated and chased me bumper to bumper.

“We drove through Theddingworth and as we left the village he overtook me.

“He then suddenly screeched to a halt in front of me, forcing me to stop as well.

“I couldn’t go past him because we were on a blind bend and I couldn’t see who was coming towards me.

“To my horror he jumped out of his vehicle, slammed his door and started stomping straight at me.

“My heart was pounding through my chest – I’ve never been so terrified.

“He was a big burly bloke – about 6ft tall and very stocky.

“He was white, balding, aged about 35-40 and he was wearing a checked shirt and possibly jeans.

“It was very intimidating as he marched very aggressively towards me as if he wanted to hurt me.

“I began to panic.

“But I managed to pull off a three-point turn and head back towards Theddingworth.

“He leapt straight back into his pick-up as if to chase me.

“But thank goodness he was held up by other traffic and I lost him.”

She called her mum on her hands-free mobile and alerted police.

“I was in floods of tears because I’ve never been so petrified and never felt so alone.

“My mum cried too because it was just so horrible,” said the Harborough born-and-bred woman.

“I turned off towards Welford and looped back round into Husbands Bosworth before driving back home.

“I stayed on the phone to my mum all the way just to have her there reassuring me.

“The whole incident lasted about 10 minutes but it felt more like 10 hours.

“The police said they’ll investigate but told me that without dashcam footage it will be difficult.

“So I’m appealing to anyone who has any film or saw this lunatic driving like a madman in Bosworth or Theddingworth to contact police immediately.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t see his number plate because it was too dirty.

“I was so shaken up I had to ask a colleague to drive me to work the next day because I didn’t want to risk it by myself.

“I was very vulnerable as a lone young woman and felt very trapped.

“He has almost certainly threatened and bullied other drivers too – I can’t believe this was a one-off.

“He has to be tracked down and dealt with as soon as possible for the sake of every driver out there.”
