Shop owner Ajay Vaitha, who set up County Jewellers in 1983, told the Harborough Mail: “It is very shocking.

“It’s a terrible thing that has happened and it’s terrible the way they did it.”

Mr Vaitha, who lives in Leicester, added: “We haven’t had the time or the chance to work out what exactly has been stolen yet.

“But we will be shut for the moment, we cannot allow any customers back in yet.

“I would just appeal to anyone who knows anything or saw anything to contact police immediately so that they can arrest these men.”

His brother Nilesh Vaitha, who owns County Crafts opposite County Jewellers, told the Mail: “They rammed their way in to the shop with a motorbike and left shattered glass all over the place.

“They also smashed a lot of the cabinets and it’s taken us a long time to clean up the mess they left behind.

“We were immediately alerted by our alarm company in the early hours of Tuesday and I can’t fault the police – they were here very quickly.

“I also believe that someone actually saw it happening and called the police."

“We have been here on the High Street in Market Harborough for 37 years and we have so many fantastic loyal customers from all over the town and the area.

“Nothing this bad has ever happened to us before.

“We want all the men who did this to be arrested and caught before they can do this again to anybody else.”
