Vandals target playground in Broughton Astley

Vandals who have targeted a popular playground in a Harborough village were today slammed as “mindless” by the council.

The offenders have seriously damaged rubber matting at the Cottage Lane play area in Broughton Astley.

They are believed to have struck at the council-owned facility earlier this week.

A Harborough District Council spokesman said today: “Mindless vandalism to community facilities, such as this, is not acceptable.

“It not only spoils the play area for other users, it costs money to repair.”

The council is calling on anyone who knows anything about the incident to get in touch with police investigating the crime.

“We would urge anyone who knows who did this to contact police,” said the council spokesman.
