Three suspected illegal immigrants have been arrested in a Harborough district village after the lorry driver heard them talking in his trailer and alerted police.

The three men, aged 22, 23 and 25, were found hiding among a huge pile of boxes as they were held by officers on an industrial estate in Dunton Bassett, near Lutterworth.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “At around 6.30am on Tuesday 23 February officers received a report from the driver of a lorry parked at an industrial estate on Lutterworth Road, near Dunton Bassett.

“Officers attended and a 22-year-old man, a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, all of no fixed address, were arrested and handed to the immigration service.”
