Thieves who stole £100,000 worth of candleware from a lorry parked up on the A14 near Market Harborough are being hunted by police.

The gang broke into the trailer after the driver stopped for the night in a lay-by on the westbound carriageway near junction one outside the village of Welford.

The criminals got away with a “large amount of candleware, including wax melting equipment, worth about £100,000,” said Northamptonshire Police.

The huge haul is all branded with an “All Seasons Wax Co” mark, said police.

Officers said the thieves must have gone along to the scene of the crime with a big vehicle themselves to escape with all their goods.

The incident happened between 4.50pm on Thursday February 25 and 9am on Friday February 26.

“Any witnesses or anyone with information should call Northamptonshire Police urgently on 101.

“The incident number is 21000118279,” added police.
