Thieves have randomly dumped a Co-operative shopping trolley in a farmer’s field in Market Harborough.

The offenders are believed to have taken the trolley from the town centre Co-op store on Coventry Road – about a mile away.

They abandoned the trolley on a trail popular with dog-walkers and runners just feet from the River Welland in the field off Farndale View on Lubenham Hill.

Staff at the Co-op thanked the Harborough Mail for alerting them to the bizarre incident – and said they would go and retrieve the missing trolley.
