A teenager suffered cuts to his hands after he was set upon in the street by a gang of men armed with knives and baseball bats in Desborough last night (Sunday).

The 17-year-old boy was attacked in Station Road at 9.15pm.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics for ‘defence wounds’ caused by a knife before being taken to hospital.

The victim ran off and raised the alarm after he was targeted by at least four men, police said.

Officers are today hunting the attackers after the late-night assault which has shocked Desborough.

Police maintained a strong presence in the Station Road/Gold Street areas of the town following the incident.
