A teenager has been arrested by police after a pedestrian was injured by a van driver in a hit and run crash in Market Harborough.

The 18-year-old suspect was held shortly after the incident in Abbey Street, Market Harborough, just before 11pm on Friday night (September 25).

Officers were called following a report of a collision involving a van and a pedestrian, said Leicestershire Police.

“It was reported the van had left the scene of the collision,” said police.

The pedestrian, a 21-year-old man, was treated for injuries that were “not life-threatening or life-changing”.

“An 18-year-old man from Northamptonshire was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning (September 26) on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving,” said police.

The suspect has since been released under investigation as police enquiries are continuing.
