Shocked passers-by looked on as armed police carried out dramatic training exercises in Market Harborough and the surrounding countryside.

Gun-toting police marksmen, some in plain clothes, pointed their weapons at cars before ordering the occupants out holding their hands up high in the air in the highly-realistic training operation.

Officers crewing unmarked police cars boxed in vehicles on Albert Road, near Market Harborough railway station, and also on the A6 at the A14 junction near Rothwell.
