Based at Market Harborough police station on Fairfield Road, Insp Gorman said: “Our officers are continuing to investigate any reports we receive, whether it relates to antisocial behaviour, burglary or something else.”

She stressed: “While we, like our colleagues across the force area, are continuing with proactive patrols, we’re also continuing to investigate reports of crime on our NPA and acting on any issues or concerns raised by our communities.”

Insp Gorman spoke as Leicestershire Police repeated its plea to people to “follow Government guidance and stay at home to save lives”.

“Our officers are continuing to follow the ‘engage, explain, encourage, enforce’ approach,” said the force.

“I would like to assure our communities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that we will continue to serve and protect you during what is, without doubt, an unusual time in our lives.”

She added: “Our officers are continuing to police in neighbourhoods across both our counties and listen to any concerns or queries that you may have.
