Police hunt sex attacker after shocking assault on woman in Market Harborough

A sex attacker is being hunted by police after a woman was targeted and assaulted in Market Harborough today (Tuesday)

The victim was stalked from behind by the thug before being attacked in broad daylight on Great Bowden Road, Market Harborough, near the town’s railway station.

The woman is now being supported by specially-trained officers as police launch a huge hunt in the area for her attacker.

Extra officers have been quickly drafted in to carry out house-to-house enquiries in an attempt to track down anyone who saw or heard anything.

Police have also cordoned off off the graveyard of the old St Mary in Arden Church on Great Bowden Road as they search for vital forensic clues.

A full-scale 999 operation was launched after the sex attack was reported to police just after 9.20am today.

“Officers are carrying out further enquiries after a woman was sexually assaulted in Market Harborough.

“The report was received just after 9.20am today (Tuesday 28 July).

“The victim reported she was approached from behind in Great Bowden Road and assaulted,” said Leicestershire Police.

“Enquiries are in their very early stages and officers are out and about in the local area doing house to house visits in an attempt to identify any witnesses.

“The victim is being supported by specialist officers.”
