Two police forces have teamed up to recover a stolen caravan on the western edge of Harborough district.

The operation went ahead after PC Hutch Hutchings, of Northamptonshire Police, was tipped off that the caravan had been dumped close by the village of Shawell, near Lutterworth.

The vehicle was found parked up at the weekend where the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire borders all converge.

PC Hutchings went to investigate along with colleagues from Leicestershire Police and they hauled it away in freezing torrential rain after verifying it had been stolen.

He said the caravan’s owner from Northamptonshire was “over the moon” to be told it had been rescued.

Police are now hunting the thieves and as yet have not made any arrests.
