Police explain why their helicopter was hovering over Harborough today

People in Market Harborough gazing skywards were left wondering what the regional police helicopter was up to buzzing overhead on Friday morning.

The helicopter hovered over the Lubenham Hill area on the western edge of Harborough for about half an hour at about 11am.

But the highly-visible force aircraft hadn’t been scrambled to hunt down criminals or attend a special incident.

Asked what the helicopter was doing, Leicestershire Police said it had been clattering over Harborough on a “routine training exercise” and nothing untoward had happened.
