Two men are being hunted by police after a man was seriously attacked – and apparently stabbed - in Desborough this morning (Friday).

The 40-year-old man was assaulted by the suspects in broad daylight in Addison Road, Desborough, just after 11am, Northamptonshire Police said.

An urgent investigation is now under way as a stunned passer-by told how the deeply-shocked victim, who was rushed to hospital in Coventry, was “pouring blood from a horrific wound to his arm”.

Police are acting as the local woman who came across the incident told the Harborough Mail this afternoon: “It was absolutely shocking.

“I cannot believe that a man has been knifed on a normal residential street in Desborough on a Friday morning.

“I heard some shouting.

“And I came across a man standing there holding his left arm above his head.”

The shocked woman, who was too frightened to be named, added: “He told me that he had been stabbed in his arm just moments earlier.

“It was a really nasty y-shaped cut below his left elbow.

“He appeared to be deep in shock and was amazingly calm.

“He was pouring blood all over the pavement.

“I did what I could for him before first responder medics and an ambulance turned up.

“Loads of police also pitched up – there were at least three police cars here swarming all over the street.

“They sealed off Harrington Road for over an hour.

“Medics put a tourniquet on the poor chap’s arm to try to stem the prolific bleeding before he was rushed to hospital.

“I just don’t know what happened.

“But I still can’t believe that a man has apparently been stabbed in the streets of Desborough this morning.

“I just hope he’s all right and that the police catch the man or the men who did this terrible thing.”

A spokesperson for the East Midlands Ambulance said: “We received a call at 11.03am this morning, Friday 6 November to a private address in Desborough to assist with a medical emergency.

“We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car and two crewed ambulances and transported one patient to Coventry and Walsgrave General Hospital."
