A man suspected to be carrying out hare-coursing was detained and questioned by police in Harborough late on Thursday night (November 19).

The suspect was held after officers were tipped off just before 9.30pm that the illegal activity was taking place on land in the village of Noseley in the north of Harborough district.

“Officers were deployed and found a vehicle on the land, with dogs also present.

“The vehicle attempted to make off from officers but became stuck,” said Leicestershire Police.

“The driver was detained and spoken to.”

The suspect was reported for vehicle offences and searched under poaching legislation.

“The driver was not arrested and enquiries into the incident are ongoing,” said police.
