A man from Harborough district has gone on trial accused of a string of serious terrorism offences.

Hisham Chaudhary, 28, of Chestnut Drive, Great Glen, is charged with funding the Islamic State terrorist group and sending out propaganda videos.

Chaudhary was arrested when elite counter-terrorism police units swooped on his house in Great Glen last October.

He has denied seven terrorism charges at Birmingham Crown Court.

Chaudhary is charged with four counts of disseminating a terrorist publication, membership of a proscribed organisation and two counts of entering a funding arrangement.

His trial is due to last up to three weeks.
