The new £20k facility includes an extended caged area to provide more safety between the nets, a state of the art base running the full length, one lane providing a slow lane for spinners and which allows space for a wicketkeeper as well.

The nets are the first of their type to be installed outdoors in the country.

Chairman Steve Avil said: “We are delighted with the new nets and would like to thank Harborough District Council, Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation and Market Harborough Building Society Charitable Trust who all contributed towards the facility.

“We have already seen junior players grow in confidence as they can practice on a true surface and we hope this will encourage more of them to continue to play for the seniors teams.”
