A14 in Northamptonshire closed in both directions

The A14 in Northamptonshire is closed in both directions between the M6/M1 J19 and J1 due to a collision involving two HGVs.

A large fuel spill and a shed load from one of the HGVs have also been reported according to Highways England.

The carriageway is likely to remain closed throughout the evening peak period tonight (March 22) while the police collision investigation, recovery and clear-up is carried out after the incident. Resurfacing of the carriageway damaged by the fuel spill will also have to be completed.

Diversions are available for traffic in both directions.

Eastbound traffic approaching on the M6 or the M1 should use the M1 southbound to J15 and then join the A45 eastbound to rejoin the A14 at J13.

Westbound traffic should exit the A14 at J1 and follow the hollow diamond symbol on local road signs via the A519 and A5199 northbound to then join the A4304 westbound to the M1 at J20.
