Disruption to train services from Harborough after theft of signalling cables

The railway was shut after thieves took signalling cable between Kettering and Wellingborough in the early hours of this morning, disabling signalling systems.

Lines have now re-opened after Network Rail engineers replaced the cables - but East Midlands Railway is warning of residual delays.

A spokesperson said: “There will be congestion in the area as a result of earlier line closure and trains and crew are out of place. We are working to get trains running to their times again but we expect this to take several hours.”
