Cllr Trevor Pendleton, the county council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “Since lockdown there has been a huge increase in people cycling, and we want to support them.

“These events are a great opportunity for keen cyclists and those who have got back on their bikes during lockdown to make sure their bikes are safe and help them continue to travel actively.”

He added: “By making it easier for people to walk or cycle safely, we’re helping to make Leicestershire a greener, healthier and happier place to live.”

Alongside these events, the county council is continuing to work on their temporary cycle lanes throughout the county.

The council is keen to hear from people about local areas which they think would benefit from walking and cycling schemes.
