Much still depends on if the lockdwon is lifted - but it is hoped the town tradition will be able to go ahead with a few changes

Excited children – and their mums and dads – are still set to see Santa tour Market Harborough this Christmas.

The much-adored annual ‘Santa’s Sleigh’ will be coming to a street in the town near you – as long as the current national Covid-19 lockdown is lifted – for the 52nd year.

Father Christmas will be supported as always by volunteers from the 3rd Market Harborough Scouts.

But, unfortunately, ecstatic little boys and girls won’t be able to go and climb on his sleigh to meet Santa as over the years.

They are being asked to listen out for the festive music and wave from their doorsteps as the sleigh passes by instead.

Santa’s helpers will also not be knocking on doors for donations.

Donation buckets will be hoisted on the side of the sleigh and you will be able to donate online to the Scouts funds and this year’s chosen charity, the Air Ambulance, via an on-line donation page.
