And it has now been confirmed that the site will begin vaccinating local people from the middle of next week.

Mr Costa said: “I am absolutely delighted to confirm that the Feilding Palmer Hospital in Lutterworth will be reopening as a vaccination hub for local residents next week.

"Since the hospital’s temporary closure last year, I have been clear with constituents that the hospital must be reopened at the earliest opportunity, and as a vital part of our local infrastructure, I am pleased that the NHS have listened to these calls and will making good use of the site for the benefit of my constituents”.

Mr Costa added: “This is very welcome news for local residents who I know have been quite happy to travel the short distance to Oadby to receive their vaccination, but to now have a

designated hospital hub on their doorsteps is a big plus.

"I have consistently raised Feilding Palmer’s future, both as a vaccination hub and as a fully working and operational hospital, with Ministers and at the very highest levels of Government and I look forward to continue working closely with our brilliant NHS and the fantastic campaigners in Lutterworth to build on this and secure the site’s long term future for the people of South Leicestershire.”
