People throughout Harborough are being urged to come forward to support vulnerable people during the coronavirus outbreak.

Crucial tasks will include getting behind people released from hospital back into the community, helping to free up beds for the NHS.

As well as recruiting for roles within the council, Inspired to Care will be helping home care providers recruit staff so they are free to carry on providing vital services to the vulnerable and those in isolation.

Cllr Richard Blunt, the council’s cabinet member for adults social care, said: “This is a challenging situation.

“We are doing everything we can to keep critical services going, particularly those supporting vulnerable people.”

He added: “Home care support has never been so important.

“The roles on offer will give Leicestershire residents the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities, support the most vulnerable to stay safe and well at home and earn money whilst carrying out a rewarding role.”

There are long-term and temporary positions available for anyone interested in supporting. The authority is also keen to recruit people in the following positions to support those in need:

- Previous home care professionals

- People who are out of work or have reduced hours

- Self-employed people

- Retail/ hospitality/ leisure professionals

- Students/ graduates

No experience is necessary.

The council will be carrying out free DBS security checks and providing basic training to ensure applicants can begin work as soon as possible to help residents.
