But the council is reiterating national advice to stay at home unless your journey is absolutely necessary

You will not have to pay to park in any car parks run by Harborough District Council.

The local authority is acting after following the latest advice on the coronavirus from the Government.

The council said: “Parking charges have been suspended at all Harborough District Council-run car parks in the Harborough district in line with Government health advice.

“You will not need to get a ticket to park.

“All parking machines will be covered up.”

But the authority warned: “Please be aware that all other parking regulations, eg. disabled bays, will be in force.

“We would reiterate national advice to stay at home unless your journey is absolutely necessary.”

All council-run public toilets in Harborough district have closed “in line with Government health guidance around social distancing and to prevent the spread of coronavirus”.

The toilets at Harborough Market are still open.
