The huge cash injection will set out to strengthen protection for people who have suffered domestic abuse throughout Leicestershire.

The money will go towards supporting the Hope Project.

The multi-agency blueprint delivers an all-round support service for men and women from all backgrounds with complex needs.

It also offers dedicated specialist services for Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups who may be at risk from honour-based violence and forced marriage.

Cllr Lee Breckon, the county council’s cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected to receive a share of the Government’s fund.

“This funding will allow us to continue to support the Hope Project and provide essential support to those identified as being in the most vulnerable situations.”

The cash will bolster local services that include refuge provision for women and their children, outreach domestic abuse support for men and women, mental health support, substance misuse support and emotional management programmes.
