The Covid-19 rate for Harborough is starting to drop after weeks of climbing, the latest figures show.

Some 276 people recorded positive tests in the district in the week to Thursday November 19.

That’s 25 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

The most up-to-date statistics show Harborough has the 72nd highest weekly rate of 315 local authority areas in England.

The infection rate stands at 294 cases per 100,000 people, still above the national average.

Harborough will find out tomorrow (Thursday) from the Government which tier it will be put into when the national lockdown ends next Wednesday.

Leading local councillors fear the district, along with the rest of Leicestershire, could be lifted from Tier 1 into the tougher Tier 2 or Tier 3 after Covid-19 cases have surged over the last few weeks.
