Covid-19 cases in Harborough drop by 20 per cent - and more vaccines are reaching the most vulnerable

The number of Covid-19 cases in Harborough has dropped by 20 per cent over the last week as the national lockdown continues to help to combat the coronavirus.
The latest figures show that 200 people tested positive for the virus across the district in the seven days to Wednesday (February 3).

Hide AdThe overall infection rate for Harborough is now 238 per 100,000 people – below the national average of 294 and the third lowest rate in Leicestershire.


But health chiefs are urging younger people to follow the Covid rules as the current rate per 100,000 people in the 17-21 age group in Harborough is above the England average.
VACCINES
Over 140,000 people have now had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
This includes 86.9 per cent of people over the age of 80.
The latest NHS figures are up to January 31 and have only been released for the regions, rather than individual towns such as Market Harborough.
