Comment: How Market Harborough Medical Centre is coping with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic

Market Harborough Medical Centre practice manager Julie Simpson talks to the Harborough Mail about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

We are putting in so many new elements to our daily working here and keeping busy and trying to ensure that patient care is maintained.

We are asking patients where they can to use the website, in particular to register for online services for repeat prescriptions so as to avoid coming into the surgery.

But they should also remember to use the external postbox to drop off requests and if entering the building staying the requisite safe distance apart away from our receptionists and dispensary staff.

A few patients are still coming to our surgery for essential care and this, of course, will continue.

The telephone lines are particularly busy again as doctors make return calls to patients to prevent them visiting the surgery in person.

So please be patient at these times and updated information has been posted on our website as and when necessary.

Patients can leave non-urgent messages for their GP on the ‘ask the doctor a question’ section of the website which will be answered within three to four working days.

We are unable to take on any more deliveries for village or town patients.

But we have linked up with the Lions, who are offering volunteer driving service and also the Harborough District Council community hub so patients should find the help they need.
