Hundreds of vulnerable and critical worker children will have to stay at home today (Monday) as schools across Harborough are forced to shut by the snow.

A string of primary schools throughout the district are closing for at least today after the heaviest snow for at least two years fell across South Leicestershire yesterday.

These schools will be shutting their doors today:

- Husbands Bosworth Primary School

- South Kilworth Primary School

- Foxton Primary School

- Fleckney Primary School

- JJ Kiddycare nursery, Welford – (apart from children of critical frontline workers only)

- Great Bowden C of E Academy

- Meadowdale Primary School, Market Harborough

- Farndon Fields Primary School, Market Harborough

- St Andrew’s Primary School, North Kilworth

- All Saints Primary School, Lubenham

- Ridgeway Primary Academy, Market Harborough

- Market Harborough C of E Academy

- The Kibworth School

- Kibworth Primary School

- Lutterworth High School.

Meanwhile, Robert Smyth Academy on Burnmill Road in Market Harborough is still open for the children of key workers.

But school principal Dan Cleary is advising parents who have to take their child by road to keep them at home instead.

The School Bus RS1 is not serving the villages of Gartree and Foxton as the treacherous back country roads are too icy.
