Leicestershire County Council regularly runs successful drop-in events for the public.

Over the last couple of years over 300 families and 200 exhibitors have attended.

Cllr Ivan Ould, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Most parents come along and say they didn’t know what to expect, but have found the advice invaluable.

“For many families, finding out what support is available locally and within their school can be daunting and a friendly face is really helpful.”

Karen Hall, one of the council’s family workers organising the event, said: “Many families talk to us about feeling swamped and not knowing where to start.

“Our roadshows can be a great way to navigate through lots of information.”

The next event will be held on Wednesday January 29 from 10am to 12.30pm at Loughborough Town Hall.

The county council is also supporting a Leicester City Council event at Morningside Arena on Friday January 31 between 10am and 5pm.

Parents and carers can also visit the council’s website: https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/special-educational-needs-and-disabilityOr follow the ‘local offer’ on Facebook for more information about what’s available locally to support children and young people with SEND.
