The school’s Student Council put the South Leicestershire MP on the spot when he popped in for a question and answer session.

Pupils quizzed the Conservative MP about topical local, national and international subjects in a lively encounter.

Mr Costa, 48, said: “Visiting the fantastic schools in my constituency is the most enjoyable part of my job and my visit to excellent Lutterworth High School was no exception.

“It was a pleasure to meet the school’s head, Julian Kirby, to discuss the exciting plans Lutterworth High has in the coming years.

“It was also good to meet the school’s Student Council, both to discuss my work as an MP and also their equally important work as representatives of the student body.”

The impressed MP added: “I found their enthusiasm and passion for making positive changes on behalf of their fellow students most inspiring.

“I very much look forward to visiting Lutterworth High again very soon.”
