Harborough primary school achieves the hat-trick of cups during lockdown

Talk about being up for the cup. In fact, superfit children and staff at a small Harborough district primary school have been up for a staggering three cups to be precise.

Thrilled youngsters at Bringhurst Primary School, near Market Harborough, are celebrating their success along with equally ecstatic staff.

The pupils in Bringhurst competed with 33 other fellow academies and schools in the David Ross Education Trust.

And they came out decisively on top to put a beaming smile on all their faces at such a tough time for everyone.

“We managed to win both 'lockdown cups' for January and February as well as the overall winner’s cup along with the prize of free football kits for our school team,” said elated school administrator Natasha Wood.

“Our children had been set the challenge to clock up the most kilometres per head.

“Our pupils and staff managed to cover an average of 38.04km (24mls) per person – which is just astonishing.

“Considering we only have 163 children on roll, this was an amazing achievement.

“We’d love to celebrate our showstopping victory with the whole of Harborough,” said Natasha.

“I am very proud indeed of our children and our fantastic staff!

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to Amanda Dent, our sports specialist here at school.

“She has done a brilliant job encouraging all of our staff and children to go out and do some daily exercise.

“They have pulled off a massive achievement and we are so delighted with all of them.”
