Market Harborough Bridge Club raises £400 of £80,000 national total

Market Harborough Bridge Club raised over £400 for Cancer Research at a bridge drive in September. Over 50 people attended the game at Kibworth Golf Club organised by John Sullivan. In total Bridge Clubs throughout England raised £80,000 through the 'It’s a big deal' initiative so Market Harborough more than pulled its weight for this achievement .

The card game Bridge has, since the pandemic, become a lot more popular and the Market Harborough club has seen its numbers grow by 25%.

Much of this has come from the age group 40 to 60, as people recognise that this is a game that can be played right through one’s life . There are not just the mental benefits which are emphasised so often these days but the social aspects of playing regularly are welcomed by our players.

We offer two playing sessions per week as well as seminars for experienced players and occasional charity bridge drives.

The club has recently put on four training sessions for people returning to bridge or absolute beginners which have been exceptionally popular. The next sessions are planned to start in the Spring.

Another charity event is planned for the first half of next year and the club will also be raising money for Children in Need in November.
