A special Covid-19 brainstorming session is to be staged in an attempt to bring more tourists and visitors into Harborough in 2021.

The virtual tourism event will bring together hospitality businesses in the district to pool ideas on how to tackle the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Tourism and hospitality organisations are being invited to join the Harborough District Tourism Summit from 10am-12.30pm on Tuesday November 17.

Hosted by Harborough District Council, it will be held online amid the new Covid-19 lockdown.

“A representative from Leicestershire County Council will also be joining the event to provide an update on the Leicestershire Tourism Growth Plan,” said the district council.

Cllr Phil King, who leads Harborough council, said: “This has been a very challenging year for many businesses, especially those in the tourism industry.

“We want to work with businesses to develop plans to rebuild this crucial sector, which has a huge impact on the local economy and provides many local jobs.”

He added: “This is a great opportunity to be involved in shaping the future of tourism in Harborough district.”
