A dog photographer from the Market Harborough area has helped to create a new canine calendar to support two outstanding causes.

Sandie Powner is ecstatic after taking all the pictures of 999 services and rescue dogs for the Barkshire Firefighter Lending a Paw 2021 calendar.

And it’s set to sell out all over the world with orders already flooding in from as far away as North Carolina, California, Hawaii, Italy, Australia and Portugal as well as from all over the UK.

“This is the calendar’s fourth year but the first year I’ve done it – and I’ve had a whale of a time.

“We’ve all had so much fun.

“And we’re getting behind two great causes in the National Emergency Services Museum and Our Blue Light charity,” said Sandie, who’s based in Wilbarston.

“I grew up in Maidenhead and was in the same Girl Guides unit as Zoe, who owns a gorgeous three-legged Yorkshire terrier called Mr Pelucchi.

“She’s the inspiration behind this spectacular calendar.

“And as I’m a specialist dog photographer I agreed straight away to jump in.

“We spent three days in September taking pictures of amazing services and rescue dogs at the National Emergency Services Museum in Sheffield.

“We are doing an initial print run of 500 copies at £9.99 each.

“We are splitting the money raised between the museum and the charity, helping to support emergency services workers with mental health issues for example.

“We have been supported by volunteer model dogs from groups such as Leicestershire Lowland Search, Pete Lewin and his Newfoundlands from Leicestershire, Andy Elwood from Andy’s Landie and Mick from the National Emergency Services Museum,” said Sandie.

“The dogs were just incredible and I’d love to do this again.

“Our printing costs are being met by businesses so all the cash generated will go straight to the museum and charity.”
