B&M, which was set up in 1978 and boasts 645 stores all over the UK, is now working to relocate its shocked staff.
Some of them could be moved to its other Harborough shop on Rockingham Road.
A B&M spokesperson said: “We can confirm that unfortunately our Market Harborough town centre store will be closing.”
