'I can't wait to get started' - 23-year-old entrepreneur is getting ready to open her own hairdressers in Harborough

Lockdown may have delayed her plans but Laurie Hadley will be ready to open on Decemeber 2

Laurie Hadley is setting up her own hairdressers in Market Harborough at the age of just 23 – and she’s absolutely buzzing.

The budding new entrepreneur will officially open Hive Hair Artistry smack bang in the town centre when the Covid-19 lockdown is lifted on Wednesday December 2.

And Laurie, whose new unit is based at the Coach House on Talbot Yard off Market Harborough's High Street, told the Harborough Mail: “I can’t wait – I’m so excited.

“I am so thrilled to be doing my own thing and to be breaking out.”

She added: “I was hoping to open on November 4 or 5 before the lockdown was imposed again.

“But I don’t mind waiting another couple of weeks or so before we open our doors and really go for it.”

Laurie, who lives in Market Harborough, learned her popular trade well at the town’s high-profile Moko hair salon.

“I was there for seven years.

“I trained there and I loved my time at Moko,” she said.

“But I just felt it was time to follow my own star and blaze my own trail.

“I’ve got big dreams and big ambitions.

“My Aunty Lorraine and Uncle Paul are helping me to finance my new venture and get me off the ground – so I’m very grateful to them.

“I’m looking forward to being even more creative, enjoying my new found freedom and building up my business from scratch.

“I’d like to move into a bigger premises at some point and all being well set up a chain of Hive Hair Artistry outlets down the line,” smiled Laurie.

“I love hairdressing, I love working with people and the future’s looking very bright.

“I’m mainly a ladies hairdresser but I will cut men’s hair as well.

“And I’ve already built up quite a list of clients who have come to me so I’m sure that it’s going to be fantastic.”
