“We love what we do and I’m sure that our customers love coming to see us too.

“So I’d just like to say that we’d like nothing more than to cap off a very strange, very challenging year with a bright and breezy few weeks over Christmas and New Year,” Amy told the Harborough Mail.

“Matt and I have been running our fruit and veg business for two years by ourselves now and it’s been amazing.

“But nobody on earth saw this Covid-19 pandemic coming to hit us out of the blue.

“We have managed to work and keep going throughout almost all of the lockdowns – and people have stuck by us.

“And it would be great now, not just for us but for all our brilliant fellow traders too, if we can launch one last big push as people stock up on all the old favourites for Christmas and New Year.

“The biggest challenge, perhaps, is making sure that the public know that we are still here and still very much open amid all these lockdowns and restrictions.

“We have an absolutely fantastic army of loyal customers and we never take them for granted.

“We really do enjoy talking to them and catching up with their lives – and they love to come and talk to us.

“So our message to our customers is simple – we look forward to seeing you more than ever!

“You can pre-order your fruit and veg Christmas collection boxes with us now as well,” said Amy, who lives in Braybrooke.

“Whether it’s potatoes, caulis, tomatoes, apples, oranges, any fruit and veg that you’re after – head along and buy it here.

“We are still managing to get the best produce from our regular wholesalers in Leicester and we’re very grateful to them.”

Moving on to salute her hard-working team Scott Lyons, Faye Almond and teenager Archie Floyd, Amy said: “It’s simple – we couldn’t do it without them.

“Scott is such a character and everybody loves him – they usually hear him before they see him!

“He’s spot on with our customers and knows his fruit and veg inside out.

“Faye and Archie, who’s slotted in with the rest of us straight away, are also a massive part of who we are and what we do.

“Harborough council, which runs the market, has stepped up, really got to grips with the pandemic this year and made our iconic historic home a super-safe space to work in.

“I’d also like to say a word for our fellow traders and business people,” said Amy, who has a nine-month-old baby and attended Market Harborough’s Robert Smyth Academy.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re after the best meat, eggs, fish, cheese, seafood – you can buy it all here.

“So let’s all look forward to a much brighter 2021 at our market and across Harborough and let’s end this year on the best note possible.”
