Market Harborough's town centre post office is set to move.

The outlet will be moved from its current busy base in St Mary’s Place to a grocery shop on nearby Adam and Eve Street.

The move is going ahead after a public consultation during which 115 people commented on the proposals.

But there’s no timescale yet for the plan due to the national Covid-19 lockdown.

A Post Office spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Market Harborough Post Office will be moving to a new location.

“We cannot give a date yet due to unavoidable project delays caused by coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

“The new premises, which is currently empty, needs to undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate a convenience store.”

She added: “Market Harborough Post Office will continue to operate from its current location for the time being.

“The enthusiastic new Postmaster is very keen to take on this branch as soon as possible.”
