Julie Colan, 40, was stunned when newsreader Rachel Horne announced live on air that she’s using her special pelvic floor kit.

The ingenious businesswoman said Rachel was full of praise for her unique product as she trains hard to run the London Marathon in April for charity.

Evans’ Virgin Radio popular breakfast show goes out to over a million listeners all over the UK.

And as a result Julie’s Secret Whispers website almost immediately crashed as hundreds of orders poured in within minutes.

Julie, of Northleigh Grove, Harborough, said: “It’s been totally crazy!

“I had no idea Rachel was going to give me and my kit a massive shout out on nationwide radio.

“My phone, laptop, website and everything else suddenly went into meltdown – it’s been a mad week.”

The mum-of-two said she had sent ex-BBC journalist Rachel, 40, and her personal assistant her pioneering 6 Step Kegel Exercise Kit before Christmas.

“Rachel’s got three children and she’s been amazingly open and honest about her leakage issues running.

“And there are a lot of girls and women out there who experience similar acute problems, especially after giving birth,” said Julie.

“It’s a serious issue for female runners particularly.

“So we were only too glad to help Rachel out.

“We really appreciate her endorsement on live radio.

“It’s fantastic that she’s gone out to the entire country getting behind us.

“Her support shows that our kit really does do the job.”

She said Rachel’s resounding Virgin Radio thumbs-up sparked a virtual firestorm free-for-all.

“So many orders came pouring in from across the country that we sold out of stock.

“We’ve never known anything like it,” said Julie.

“It’s been priceless publicity for us, absolute gold dust.”

She’s designed tailor-made exercises for women with her kegel balls alongside medical and top product development teams.

“We offer a six-stage programme with different strength balls to strengthen a woman’s pelvic floor over 12 weeks.

“This whole debate is still far too taboo.

“Too many mums still believe that urine incontinence is normal – it’s not and it can be addressed.”

Showcasing Julie’s kit on her website, Rachel tells her legion of fans: “For the last three days I’ve added @secretwhispersuk pelvic floor toner to my exercises - basically weights the size of ping pong balls that you put in like a tampon to make the exercises stronger and hopefully more effective.

“I didn’t find them uncomfortable - the exercises just felt a bit heavier.

“Whether it’s the chair, the exercises or the balls, I can definitely feel a difference - even just in the sense that I can now sense when I’m doing the exercises correctly.”

Julie took her brainwave to the National Running Show at the NEC over the weekend (Jan 25-26).

“Interest is growing in my kegel kit all the time.

“This was a brilliant opportunity to show it off to over 27,000 runners,” she said.

“Running legends like Steve Cram and Jo Pavey were speaking at the exhibition.

“It’s still hard to believe how this idea has taken off.

“But if we can help and support women everywhere and bring their pelvic floor misery to an end then it’s worth every minute we put into it.”
