Boost for town centre as Harborough clothes store is saved from the axe
The staff are breathing a huge sigh of relief as they will all keep their jobs
A Market Harborough clothes store has been saved from the axe in a major boost for the town centre.
About eight staff at Peacocks, based on the High Street, are breathing a huge sigh of relief after the reprieve.
The town’s shop is among 200 stores rescued after the crisis-hit national fashion chain was bought out of administration earlier this month.
Peacocks is being taken over by an international consortium, led by the company’s former chief operating officer Steve Simpson.
The deal is poised to save 2,000 jobs all over the country.
