The authority is giving out the lifeblood cash on behalf of the Government through a number of special support schemes.

Over 800 businesses have so far received cash.

Money has also been awarded to 189 individuals entitled to Test and Trace support payments as they are forced to self-isolate but can’t work from home.

The council is also urging ‘wet-led’ pubs to apply for a specific £1,000 Government grant.

A ‘wet-led’ pub is a bar which doesn’t serve food and relies entirely on the sale of drinks to survive.

The deadline to apply is January 31.
