A 24-hour gym has got the green light to open in the old B&M shop in Market Harborough town centre.

The scheme was given the go-ahead at a virtual meeting of Harborough council’s planning committee on Tuesday night

The scheme was given the go-ahead at a virtual meeting of Harborough council’s planning committee on Tuesday night.

Councillors moved to approve allowing the former Commons Car Park store to be used for leisure purposes instead of retail.

They acted after planning officers warned the outlet could well stay vacant unless they backed change of use.

The Gym Group, which has units all over the UK, can now step up plans to convert the ex-discount shop after it was closed in March.
