The curtain is set to rise again at a stunning theatre at a 19th century country house in the Harborough district after being closed for over a year amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kilworth House Theatre on Lutterworth Road near North Kilworth said it is delighted that audiences and performers will be returning at last to their unique 550-seat theatre.
Their summer theatre season will begin later than previous years as it prepares to open with Kilworth’s Memories of the Musicals on Tuesday August 3.
“We are determined to bring back the joy and excitement of live musical theatre to Kilworth this summer.
“We have worked with our creative team to produce a show exclusively devised for the stage at Kilworth with a strictly limited run during August,” said Kilworth House Theatre.
The theatre has been working with Andrew Wright and George Dyer to create a Covid-safe “exciting new show”.
Andrew and George are the winning creative team behind their record-breaking productions of Joseph in 2018/19.
Kilworth’s Memories of the Musicals is a full-length show featuring the very best songs from every one of the 19 musicals produced at Kilworth House Theatre since it opened in 2007.
Six stars of the West End will sing and dance their way through more than 50 songs from Kilworth’s fantastic back-catalogue supported by a live orchestra on stage.
The show will feature songs from musical theatre classics such as My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, Me and My Girl, Singin’ In The Rain, Guys & Dolls, Top Hat and South Pacific.
More recent work such as Little Shop of Horrors, Legally Blonde, Joseph and Cats will also star.
Kilworth’s Memories of the Musicals will run from August 3 until Sunday August 29.
